Japan-based IT engineer Berna-san on how to find a job in Japan!

We recently interviewed Berna, a Turkish national working at an IT company in Japan!

ベルナさん①.png

Berna spent 11 months studying Japanese before coming to Japan and currently holds a Japanese language proficiency level between N4 and N3. While she doesn't seem to have much trouble speaking Japanese, she mentioned encountering situations where she can't read kanji, especially during activities like shopping!

Having been in Japan for only 2 months (at the time of the interview), she shared that there are still many aspects of Japanese life that she's getting used to. However, she also noted that it's not too difficult to adapt if you adhere to the established rules.

During the interview, Berna offered some advice for job interviews in Japan, which we'd like to share with you!

POINT1: Speak with a smile

POINT2: Be able to talk about specific projects you've been involved in and what you've learned

POINT3: Clearly articulate why you want to work in Japan (Demonstrate why you want to work in Japan specifically, rather than in other countries)

To all those considering job hunting in Japan, we hope you find these tips helpful!

Thank you for the interview!
